Men and women become more self-conscious about their appearance as they age. A liquid facelift offers them a way to turn back the clock to look younger and have a smoother complexion. Daniel Man, M.D., a Florida board-certified plastic surgeon, uses dermal fillers and injectables as a liquid facelift to diminish the fine lines and wrinkles that develop with age on people living in and around Boca Raton, FL, so they can have a more youthful appearance.

What is a Liquid Facelift?

When having a liquid facelift, dermal fillers are injected under the skin to restore volume. Unlike a traditional facelift, there is no cutting. Liquid facelifts are a minimally invasive alternative to a facelift. Instead of undergoing surgery, this less invasive treatment is completely in a short amount of time with local or no anesthesia necessary. Fillers plump up the skin and fill in from the inside, reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles and restoring volume to the face.

Benefits of a Liquid Facelift

A liquid facelift is simply another term for injectable fillers and is an alternative to invasive cosmetic surgery.

It is often a preferred choice because it offers the following benefits:

  • No downtime following treatments
  • Provides natural looking results
  • Results last several months up to a year
  • Increases self-confidence

Is a Liquid Facelift Right for Me?

If you want to make subtle changes to your face or complexion without the extensive surgery and recovery that comes with facial plastic surgery, a liquid facelift may be right for you.

How Does a Liquid Facelift Work?

A liquid facelift is simply another term for injectable fillers. The type of fillers range from prescription fillers that target different imperfections on the face to injections using fat from the patient’s own body.

For prescription fillers, the most common are Radiesse®, Restylane®, JUVEDERM® and Sculptra®. The recommended filler depends on the goal of the targeted area of the face and what may work best for you depending on your skin type, medical history, and the desired look.

Fat Injections, also referred to as liposculpture, involves using a patient’s own fat to create volume and fill in sunken, depressed areas of the face. It is excellent for correcting facial fat loss in the cheeks, brows, tear trough, and nasolabial folds as well as lips, acne pits and scars and underneath the jaw line. Fat is typically taken from the hip, stomach, back or other areas where it is not needed and injected into the targeted areas. Even though this procedure is long lasting, it does require repeat treatments, though not often. Harvested fat can be frozen and re-injected as needed.

Preparing for a Liquid Facelift

There is no preparation for receiving a liquid facelift with artificial fillers except for making sure there are no allergies to certain ingredients. As for fat injections, preparation involves making sure there is enough fat in the areas to be harvested.

Is There Any Recovery from a Liquid Facelift?

For artificial injectable fillers, there is no recovery with most patients returning to work or their daily activities immediately following the appointment. For fat transfers and injections, there is some recovery that involves resting for a few days and avoiding any stress on the treatment area where fat was injected for a few weeks. The area where the fat is injected needs time for the blood vessels to grow into the injected fat and strengthen to handle daily stresses, such as strenuous exercise and activities. In addition to this, patients must wear a compression garment on the area from where the fat was taken as well as where the fat was injected (if facial, surgical tape is applied) for several days.

How Much Does a Liquid Facelift Cost?

A liquid facelift varies in terms of cost depending on the selected injectable filler used, how much is needed for the targeted area and whether the procedure is done during the same appointment as other treatments. Dr. Man discusses the costs in detail with patients as well as payment and financing options to make treatments more affordable.

What Do I Do Next?

The first thing you need to do is schedule a consultation with Dr. Man to discuss your options with a liquid facelift.
