Modern facelift surgery has benefited from numerous advancements including
new surgical techniques, improved anesthesia and post operative healing.
The Man Facelift Expander is one advancement which helps enhance results
for facelift patients naturally, without leaving a pulled or "wind-blown"
look.
This procedure was developed by Dr. Man and based on previous studies
of tissue expansion and stretching during facelift surgery. Dr. Man designed
the Man Facelift Expander to duplicate the natural circumferential stretching
of the skin.
What is the Man Facelift Expander? It is a small balloon-like device that is contoured to fit the shape
of the face. It is inserted temporarily under the skin for several minutes
during facelift surgery in order to stretch the skin circumferentially,
in all directions at once, instead of pulling the skin in only one direction.
This is done to simulate the natural stretching of the skin.
How is the procedure performed? During your facelift surgery, The Man Facelift Expander is placed
under the skin flaps and slowly inflated for several minutes and then
removed. The excess skin is excised and the skin flaps sutured into place.
This procedure helps to reduce tension on the skin flaps during closure
and minimizes hair loss around the temple and ears. Studies have found
that circumferential stretching of the skin during facelift surgery allows
the surgeon to remove more skin and wrinkles without leaving a pulled
look, thus achieving a more natural looking appearance.
