Injectable fillers such as autologous fat and other filler materials have ushered in a new age of facial contouring techniques. Autologous fat, which is fat harvesting from the patient's own body , offers a unique advantage and has helped to usher in a whole new age of liposculpture. New advances in harvesting, storing and injection have made it a very desirable option in facial restoration and anti-aging. Autologous fat is especially good for facial contouring and enhancement Typically fat is harvested from the hip, stomach other area where it is not needed and reinjected into the cheeks, jaw line, lips, brows, eye lids, and to smooth out deep lines such as those around the mouth, and the deep creases of the nasolabial folds (smile lines). The procedure may need to be repeated in order to build up volume, and to compensate for fat that is absorbed by the body. Liposculpture is very useful for correcting aging of the face and loss of volume in the cheeks, brows, tear trough, nasolabial folds, lips, acne pits and scars and underneath the jaw line. Injected fat is long-lasting, though touchups are often required.
